by minimus intodays online edition says the dumbo neighborhood is up in arms over the fact that the watchtower has gotten approval to take acres of prime industrial land (taxfree) and that the watchtower will be offering little back.....the watchtower countered that there will be less crime if they're around and that they will renovate 2 neighborhood parks and install security cameras at york street subway station.

Why Is Alcohol "Good" and Marijuana "Bad"?
by FMZ inup until a short time ago (a couple of years maybe), insufficient research had been done on either of these drugs to say what the long term effects were.
only recently has it come out that certain kinds of alcohol (red wine etc) can reduce blood pressure.. so, with this in mind (the fact that they could actually be as bad or harmless as each other), why the heck is marijuana illegal and alcohol fine?.

7. In a country where the work is banned, a Brother was trying to get through a series of roadblocks, with the trunk of his car loaded with literature. He was stopped by a policeman who asked him if he would take him to a certain destination as his car was broke down. The Brother agreed, the policeman got in the car, took his policeman's hat off and put it on the dashboard of the car as they drove along. They passed through five roadblocks and each time they were waved to go on through because of the policeman being with him. When they reached the end, the policeman thanked him and got out. The Brother asked him what the roadblocks were for and he said, "Oh, those Jehovah's Witnesses try to get through with their literature and this is set up to stop them." So he had escorted the Brother right through with his literature, (Told by Bro. Spangenberg, C. 0.)

Most Americans have been looking for flu shots, but they are cancelled...doctors,hospital etc say no allocation. A friend sent the following recommended alternative....
Eat right! Make sure you get your daily dose of fruits and veggies. Take your vitamins
and bump up your Vitamin C. Get plenty of exercise because exercise helps build
your immune system. Walk for at least an hour a day, go for a swim, take the stairs
instead of the elevator, etc. Wash your hands often. If you can't wash them, keep a
bottle of antibacterial stuff around. Get lots of fresh air. Open windows whenever
possible. Get plenty of rest. Try to eliminate as much stress from your life as you can.
OR.....
Take the doctor's office approach: When you go for a shot, what do they do first?
Clean your arm with alcohol. Why? Because alcohol kills germs.
So......I walk to the liquor store (exercise); I put lime in my Corona (fruit); celery in my Bloody Mary (veggies); drink on the patio (fresh air); get drunk, tell jokes, and laugh (eliminate stress) and then pass out (rest). The way I see it, if you keep your alcohol levels up, flu germs can't get you! :)

A question for you managers out there....
by Dawn ini work for a fairly large organization - we have over 35 satelite offices spread out across the state.
there are jw's in some of these satelite offices that i deal with on a regular basis.
i have never had a problem with them because i view work as work, it is a professional environment and each individual is judged based on their work performance.

Actually, I've seen this before, except it didn't say Kingdom Hall, It said Church.
We used to have a Penticostal Christian in our office who would regularly send E-Mails out with crap like this. Sometimes we would get stuff like this 2 to 3 times a day from her, which used to piss everybody off.
One day, I had enough of the crap e-mails she was sending. She sent the above e-mail to the usual people on her distribution list. (Myself included). It just so happened that I read on MSNBC.com or somewhere the day before about a shooting in a church somewhere where somebody died. So, I responded to her e-mail and CC'd everybody on the distribution list with a link to the shooting article. I was promptly taken off her E-Mail distribution list. (Thank God!).
So, This witness who sent you this e-mail just plagiarized an article that has been out there for a few years now and replaced Church with Kingdumb Hall.

Assembly & C.O. /D.O. Elder meeting notes
by doinmypart ini attended the 2004-2005 circuit assembly this past weekend.
the internet, online chat rooms, and jw online dating was mentioned several times both days.
during both the circuit overseer's final talk on sunday and the district overseer's final talk sunday they both spent several minutes talking about how the internet poses a serious danger to god's people.
